Maria Obas, RMT

MARIA_O_RMT

Meet Maria, one of our registered massage therapists. After she graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, she left Canada to research wild birds in Australia. She remained abroad for the next three years, working in Australia and travelling to New Zealand, Southeast Asia and India.

Upon returning to Canada, she pursued her interest in health care and graduated with honours from Algonquin College’s Intensive Massage Therapy program. She received the School of Health and Community Studies award for academic achievement and leadership and stood as a class representative for the two years she studied with the college.

Inspired by adventure and the outdoors, Maria uses this to motivate her to use massage therapy to help others discover their passions through movement and mobility.

As a science buff, Maria has a soft spot for physiology and enjoys learning about different conditions and impairments and how massage and various modalities affect the body from a physiological perspective.

Outside of massage therapy, Maria continues to feed her adventurous side. You can generally find her researching her next solo trip abroad, trying out new tricks at the snow park, exploring local waters with her scuba diving buddy, trekking in the backcountry, or somewhere up the side of a cliff.
